To all the people I have lost
Along my path to what we call life, I have seen many people fade away from mine. The reasons vary immensely; switching schools, lack of communication, misunderstandings, fights, deaths, you name it.
While I am very grateful to the small circle of very close friends I now possess, my mind keeps on wandering to all those souls whom I once knew and was close to. Albeit we drifted apart, I came to realise that I did not bid my farewell as I should have.
So this is to you, my dear lost friend.
Thank you.
Thank you for being part of my life even if it was for a very short period of time. I will be forever grateful to you for having shared with me bits and pieces of your being and for allowing our existences to merge and co-exist. Though our souls no longer connect as they once did, I will never forget the special bond we had.
Thank you for you have made me smile and brought joy to my life regardless of the difficulties we may have faced afterwards. It is rare to find people who are able to make you genuinely happy and excited. I will forever treasure the blissful moments we once mutually shared.
Thank you for being one of the rays of sunlight that pierced the darkness whenever I was down or at my lowest. I am appreciative of your worry whenever I was facing difficulties and the efforts you put in to take care of me and lift the haze that surrounded me.
Thank you for contributing into shaping me into who I can proudly say I am now. It does not matter if we have known each other for over 5 years or 5 days. It does not matter if we were really close or not. You have certainly played a role into moulding me and I am indebted to you.
Thank you for teaching me valuable life lessons that I will carry with me forever. Thank you for helping me become more mature, more sceptic and less naïve. Thank you for helping me learn how to love, how to be generous and how to be selfless all the while making me realise that I should take care of myself as well.
I am sorry.
I am sorry if ever I have hurt you in any way possible. I am sorry if ever I have not paid attention enough. I am sorry if ever I have not contributed in your life as you have in mine. I am sorry if ever I have failed to do something that could have saved our friendship. I hope you pardon my mistakes if ever I made any.
Along my path to what we call life, I have seen many people fade away from mine. I have come to realise that losing people is normal and the best way to react to it is to be grateful. Instead of remorse and regret, I now see tens and hundreds of nameless faces with lost memories. Isn’t this the real morbid beauty of life?
Those we love and lose are always connected by heartstrings into infinity.
